Position: Technical Services Specialist

Location: NYC

The chosen candidate will join a development team responsible for maintaining structured fixed income pricing systems. The systems support daily evaluations of MBS and CMO products. The candidate should be hands on, capable of analyzing existing legacy code, writing new code, testing, debugging and production support. The candidate will be analyzing and documenting user requirements, proposing system design, presenting and evaluating implementation options through the use of design diagrams and wireframes. The candidate should be detail-oriented, embrace development best practices, and communicate clearly and effectively with peers, QA team, users, project management, and supervisors.   The working environment is fast-paced, highly demanding, and closely integrated with front office users. The candidate should be a self-motivated quick learner willing to pick up any skills the job calls for.

Experience and Skills:

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: Cultivated in Object Oriented programming methodology 5+ years of development experience with C/C++ and shells (csh, sh, perl) on UNIX 5+ years of development experience with RDMS, Sybase preferable  Comfortable with cross platform development including Windows (Visual C++/MFC) and Unix (C++) Understanding and dedication to the full software development lifecycle (SDLC ) and “best practices” Strong experience with design-for-testability and unit-tests Proficiency with software configuration management tools such as CVS and Subversion Familiarity with Intex subroutines is a strong plus J2EE experience is a plus   GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Three or more years of experience in financial applications development Knowledge of structured fix Income products (MBS, and CMO) is a plus Pricing experience in MBS and CMO is a strong plus Proven ability to work in concert with other developers and teams Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to multi-task and juggle priorities among different efforts/projects
