Our client, a leader in Defense technologies is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their team.
Title: Principle Engineer I - Mechanical
Job Description: Performs complex design and development work largely at the subsystem level in accordance with company processes. Documents outputs of the subsystem development at each phase as appropriate. Helps define system architecture and the high-level requirements and design of systems.
Responsibilities:
1. Primary duties will include design, development, testing & documentation of electro-mechanical systems from initial concept/layout to final product.
2. Responsible to evaluate multiple component tolerance studies.
3. Understand fit and function of assemblies, understand correct implementation of MIL-STD-100, MIL-STD-130 and ANSI Y14.5.
4. Must exhibit leadership skills and provide support to the multi-engineering discipline design team as well as perform as a senior individual contributor.
5. Develop & execute Mechanical Engineering Program plans.
6. Responsible for conceptual design CAD system (Pro-E & ACAD)
a. Generate creative solutions to complex problems.
b. Evaluate the form, fit and function of concepts.
c. Evaluate producibility of concepts
d. Interface with suppliers
7. Oversee and perform detail design and create detail drawings using CAD system (Pro-E & ACAD)
8. Perform mechanical checks of detail and assembly drawings to include:
a. Tolerance analysis
b. Part fit
c. Detail dimensioning
9. Oversee and perform ECO generation and incorporation Configuration.
10. Responsible for Configuration Management of mechanical documentation.
11. Interface with vendors to supply prototype and production parts.
12. Perform related duties as needed or assigned.

1. Must be able to act independently, guided only by broad engineering instructions and objectives and have the ability to make administrative decisions on technical issues affecting major mechanical segments of the organization. Creativity and latitude are required.
2. Must have the technical knowledge and background experience to make timely, supportable decisions in finding solutions to complex problems in a wide area of disciplines and technologies.
3. Must be able to perform complex mechanical analysis.
4. Must have strong technical analysis, project planning and execution skills.
5. Experience using a solid modeling tool for modeling and documentation.
6. Experience using an automated configuration management tool.
7. Knowledge in Structural and Thermal Design of Complex Mechanical Components.
8. Strong basic computer skills in basic office and technical programs.
9. Strong hands-on hardware development desire and experience.
10. Self motivation and direction.
11. Able to handle multi-tasking and work in a team based environment.
12. Strong electro-mechanical design skills.
13. Excellent oral and written skills.
14. Pro-E Modeling and Documentation experience
15. Pro-I CM experience
16. Thermal Analysis experience using Coldplate and EFD
17. Production program documentation experience
18. Understanding of fabrication process and fabrication experience
Education and Experience Required: BS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical area with a minimum of 10-12 years relevant experience.
Other requirements: This position will require the successful candidate to be able to obtain a security clearance, and therefore, US citizenship is essential. Some travel will be required.
