Candidates with a variety of experience levels are sought. Minimum requirements are a MS or BS degree in the physical sciences, mathematics or computer sciences plus a minimum of 3 years experience in relevant fields (advanced degrees may be substituted for work experience). Demonstrated ability to successfully develop quality scientific codes for science or engineering applications. Strong technical and communication skills, teamwork, problem solving and customer interaction skills in a fast-paced R&D environment.
The following are required:
- C++ programming (>=3 years) experience
- Unix or Linux environment (>=3 years), including shell programming, "make"
- Experience using modern scientific data formats (HDF, netCDF or other)
- Understand the software lifecycle and experience in the use of software process tools including source control
- Demonstrated experience in software development of complex scientific or engineering applications
The following are desired:
- Background in meteorology or remote sensing
- Software design tools: Rational ClearCase/ClearQuest, Eclipse
- IDL/Matlab/Python programming experience
- High volume satellite data processing
- High performance computing and code optimization, including experience in multi-threading and multi-processing applications
