The selected candidate will be responsible for optical system design from concept development through fabrication. The candidate will work with program teams to perform system trade-off analyses and to define the optical system architectures. The candidate will be responsible for optical design, system tolerance analyses, optical performance budgets, and optimization over environmental ranges. The candidate will support the team through the fabrication and integration of the optical systems.

This position involves working in close-knit teams with design, analysis, integration and test personnel.   The position may require special security clearances and travel to meetings and field sites.

Special Talents: Education: BS, MS or PhD in Optical Engineering or Physic with a concentration in optics

Experience: The candidate should have a minimum of 15 years experience in optical design, be proficient with optical design software (Zemax or Code V), and have significant experience with the design of a broad range of optical systems: visible, IR, reflective and refractive systems. Knowledge of other areas such as diffractive optics, illumination systems, and stray light analysis is preferred. Experience with optical design for space and aircraft systems, with knowledge of system optimization for harsh environmental conditions, is strongly desired. Knowledge and experience with opto-mechanics is considered a plus.
