Job Description

Our client, a leading and renowned healthcare organization in the greater New York City area is seeking an experienced, and talented Interface Project Manager to assist them on a 6 month project.  This is a Monday through Thursday, 40 hours a week role, and although local candidates are preferred, any consultant who lives outside a commutable distance will have their travel expenses reimbursed.

 

Interface Project Manager over OB/GYN system

 

Background:

 

The core of the system is the GE Centricity Perinatal (CPN) Enterprise Application which is under development and scheduled for deployment by December. The Enterprise project which is currently underway will deploy an enterprise database with ADT, Lab and Allergies interfaces. Additional interfaces outside this current project are required to exhibit communication among the hospitals, faculty practices and community physicians using the Allscripts Electronic Health Record. The applications or systems involved include:

 

·       Sunrise Clinical Manager  (In-Patient EHR)

·       Allscripts EHR (physician offices’ EHR)

·       Cerner Millennium Laboratory application

·       Meditech Laboratory application

·       AS OB/GYN RIS & PACs application

 

·  Project Needs for a PM:  There are 3 projects that the Contractor PM must be able to initiate and execute during Q3 and Q4’10:

·       Implement Interfaces between CPN and SCM (Sunrise Clinical Manager – In-patient EHR)

·       Implement Interfaces between Allscripts EHR, Client's Patient Information Exchange and CPN

·       Implement AS/OBGYN Interfaces (ADT, LAB, CPN, Allscripts EHR, SCM)

 

Besides Project Management expertise, we are seeking candidates who have managed complex integration projects involving in-patient EHRs and Out-patient EHRs, clinical applications and multiple integration engines. Knowledge of total patient-flow from scheduling, through registration, patient treatments as in-patients and out-patients and billing is required. Candidates should have experience with SCM and Allscripts EHRs.

 

Besides Project Management expertise, we are seeking candidates who have managed complex integration projects involving in-patient EHRs and Out-patient EHRs, clinical applications and multiple integration engines. A PM is required to plan and coordinate:

 

·       Development of the integration projects involving in-patient SCM EHR and Out-patient Allscripts EHR, clinical applications and multiple integration engines.

·       Integration of the Client's EPI Standard at hospital 

·       Billing interfaces to the facility and professional billing systems

·      
Coordinate purchase and deployment of the desktop and peripheral equipment required for a successful implementation for development and clinical staff 

·       Identification and training of super users, clinical and administrative staff for both workflow and system application.

·       Go-live activity planning and execution

 

This PM will manage multiple projects of various sizes requiring sound multitasking skills in order to meet tight schedules.  The PM will work closely with the Client's IS Groups, Facilities and Vendors.  Strong communication and project management skills are required.

 

Cutover activities may occur in evenings or weekends.

Plans, manages and coordinates project activities to ensure goals and objectives of a mid-sized project or multiple phases of a large project are accomplished within prescribed time-frame and funding parameters.  Establishes timelines and ensures project deadlines are met.  Maintains integrity and cost containment of the project or phases of project.

 

1.      Reviews project plan to determine time-frame, funding limitations, procedures, staffing requirements and allotment of resources to various phases of the project.

2.      Establishes work plan and staffing for each project phase and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project staff.

3.      Confers with project staff to outline work plan and assign duties, responsibilities and scope of authority.

4.      Manages activities of project staff to ensure project progress is on schedule and within budget.

5.      Reviews status reports and modifies schedules and/or plans as required.

6.      Prepares and presents project reports for management, clients or others.

7.      Confers with project staff to provide technical advice and resolve problems.

8.      Coordinates project activities with organizations or agencies outside the Health System.

9.      Tracks actual performance against planned project performance, analyzes variances, and work with project team to ensure all customer needs are met while maintaining control of the project.

10.  Performs related duties, as required.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

 Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, required.

·         Minimum of five (5) years related technical experience including three (3) years of project management experience, required.

·         Program Management Institute (PMI) Certification, preferred.

·         Experience in assigned technical area (i.e. Finance, Healthcare, Facilities, Infrastructure, etc), and in a similarly sized IT organization, required.  Healthcare environment, preferred.

·         Demonstrated experience in the 9 Project Management Institute (PMI) knowledge areas, required.

·         Analytical and organization skills and ability to develop and implement multiple small to medium project plans, required.

·         Project management, communication, presentation, relationship building and strategic planning and implementation skills, required.

·         Experience with MS Project or NIKU Workbench project planning tools, required.

·         Experience with CA Clarity or related PPM tool, preferred.
