• Analyze/evaluate product requirements for software applications by working with technical & product maangers; develop detailed specifications
• Identify priorities and plan technical tasks; provide accurate and reliable estimates for project tasks
• Application development, customization and integration of work
• Design, code and unit test the applications
• Maintain/modify existing software applications with periodic releases
• Create test plans and test tools; support testing and address on-line bug reports/issues
• Address client support issues
• Document applications for technical white papers, user guides and operations guide
• Provide guidance/mentoring to less experienced team members
• May lead some project-specific teams

To be considered for this position, candidates must have the following must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in Software Development, including all development activities that revolve around the full project life-cycle. Must be familiar with standard software version control practice and be capable of writing technical documents. The following skillsets are required:

• 5 yrs minimum experience with C++ in a Linux environment  
• Core Java programming - 5 yrs minimum
• Expertise in Linux shell scripting
• Experience with Apache/Tomcat
• Demonstrated proficiency with MySql, Oracle or other relational databases with back-end experience
• In depth knowledge of Linux or Unix operating systems
• Proficient in CVS (version control)
• Confidence with SQL commands
• Competency in Word and Excel
• Experience developing and maintaining project plans
• BS in Computer Science of related field

In addition, exposure to Perl is a plus, as is experience working in the financial data industry.
