JOB DESCRIPTION:
Our client has an immediate need for a Software Engineer to provide on a "sidecar" development and improvement effort. Sidecars are components of a service-oriented architecture that expose data from operational sensors and sources to the network.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
- Participate in design and development efforts to improve overall performance, monitoring and robustness of sensor sidecars.
- Develop and integrate new processing applications within existing sidecars.
- Assist in deployment of sidecars.
- Document work.
REQUIREMENTS
- BS or MS in Computer Science
- 5 plus years software design and development experience
- Must be team oriented and must be able to work independently and with team members.
- Must have good communication and problem solving skills.
- Solid background in Object Oriented programming methodologies.
- Understanding of relational data design and modeling concepts.
- Expertise in full-lifecycle Java application development.
- Experience with messaging systems (ActiveMQ).
- Experience with application servers (Geronimo, Tomcat).
- Familiarity with distributed system architectures and concurrent programming techniques.
- Experience with common developer tools (Maven, Eclipse, Subversion, Trac, etc.).
- Strong LINUX shell programming and Perl experience.
- Program language experience: Java, C/C++.
PLUSES
- Experience with relational database and SQL skills.
- Familiarity with XML, SOAP and Web Services (Axix, CXF).
- GUI experience.
