Position: Java Front End Web Developer

Location: NYC

General Summary:

The candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing software within a Java/Web-based platform particularly focused on front-end, user interface development. The candidate will be capable of proposing and documenting software design, analyzing requirements, and presenting implementation options through the use of design wireframes. The candidate will be responsible for hands-on development and promoting best practices for user interface development.

The candidate should understand the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), be capable of analyzing requirements, be detail-oriented, embrace development best practices, and communicate clearly and effectively with peers, project management, and supervisors. The candidate must have the ability and desire to evaluate technologies for their relevance to the problem domain, learn to work with the technologies, and instruct team members in using the technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

The chosen candidate will help make design and implementation decisions for a system that will replace disparate legacy applications. The candidate will review design decisions for extensibility, testability, and maintainability. He or she will be required to design and develop reliable components that support high availability and disaster recovery.  The candidate will be required to develop user interfaces with rich features for internal applications, delivered using a web-based, thin client or a thick client framework. He or she will be required to properly document work in accordance with the standards of the team. 

Job Specifications: Technical

·        7+ years of object-oriented design experience

·        5+ years of development experience with Java

·        JEE experience is required. JBoss experience is a plus.

·        Experience developing robust middle-tier code and in developing web-facing user interface code

·        1+ years of development experience with Hibernate.

·        3+ years of development experience with object-oriented JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Experience with AJAX preferred.

·        Experience with Rich Client web toolkits such as SmartClient or Dojo is a plus.

·        Proficiency in relational database use especially Oracle.

·        Strong experience with design-for-testability and unit-tests

·        Proficiency with software configuration management tools such as CVS and Subversion

·        Understanding and dedication to software development “best practices”

·          Experience providing technical support of a Production system

·          Corporate Fixed Income knowledge is a plus
